About

Sarah Frieberg was born and currently lives in the San Francisco Bay Area. Working with her meditative practice, horticultural background and love for the land, her work is a meditative response to her surrounding environment employing line, repetition and abstraction. It occupies both two and three dimensional space, examining spiritual and physical processes of growth, stillness and decay through materiality. Bringing smells, textures and natural raw materials back into the studio such as clay, tea, eggs, honey and decomposed plant matter, the materials chemical responses with each other on the working surface create an unpredictable reaction. Within the unstable reactions, process and materiality synthesize and impermanence, resonance and decay emerge in the work.
